The football stadium in Zagreb, the Kranjčevićeva stadium (formerly the Concordia Stadium), is located in Kranjčevićeva street in Trešnjevka.
The clubs NK Zagreb, NK Lokomotiva and NK Rudeš play at this stadium. Before World War II, HŠK Concordia played at the stadium. Construction of the stadium began in the 1910s for the needs of Concordia.
In its time it was the largest stadium in Zagreb, and construction of the pitch was completed in 1921.
The stadium has a capacity of 8.850 spectators. Although the first match under floodlights was played on the Concordia pitch in 1931, a lightning strike destroyed them in 1987. It is interesting to mention that at the time, Concordia's floodlights were the first stadium floodlights in this part of Europe. Only in 2008 did the pitch get new floodlights.
The stadium in Kranjčevićeva has an important place in recent history as the site of the first parade of the National Guard Corps on 28 May 1991. That is the date we still mark today as the beginning of the creation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia.
The stadium has a covered west stand with 3.850 seats. This stand also houses the honorary box and the press box. The east stand has 5.000 standing places. A cycling path has been built around the football pitch. The stadium has floodlights, so matches can also be played there in the evening and at night.
