Baška Voda is a popular tourist destination for many. It lies close to Makarska and is part of the Makarska Riviera. The small town is situated in the central part of the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea.
Given that it is located in central Dalmatia, barely 50 kilometres from Split, Baška Voda has very good prerequisites for an even stronger and faster development of tourism.
Baška Voda was once a settlement of farmers and fishermen, merchants and seafarers, but today the small town has grown into one of the more significant tourist destinations in the area.
If you are on holiday in Baška Voda and have the opportunity for some sightseeing, head towards the old Church of St Nicholas. Construction of this church began in 1889, in the Neo-Romanesque style. About a hundred years after its construction, the fully renovated Church of St Nicholas received valuable stained-glass windows by Josip Botteri Dini and painted Stations of the Cross by Josip Biffel. In 1991 a bell tower and a parish house were built alongside the church, which preserves a valuable collection of ethnographic and sacred objects.
Besides these old buildings, Baška Voda can also boast two significant museum collections in the old core of the town. These are the archaeological collection, owned by the Municipality, and the exceptionally rich and high-quality malacological (shell) collection, owned by the Jurišić Akčić family.
