Solin is located very close to the Adriatic coast, yet the backbone of tourism in this town is the archaeological park of Salona.
Salona is the largest archaeological park in Croatia and is of great importance for this town. Encouraged by good tourist results, the people of Solin now hold numerous events, all aimed at providing the best and highest-quality content for their guests.

When events in Solin are mentioned, the Solin Winter Fest clearly stands out. The large number of visitors clearly showed the need for this kind of tourist offer, which is why the people of Solin decided to continue with this festival. The Solin Winter Fest offers various interactive workshops and themed historical presentations of life in Salona.

Apart from cultural tourism, Solin is a town with great potential for the development of religious tourism.

Of course, this is a town that adjoins Split, and as such it has a much richer offer than the above. The sea is very close, and there are also many sights in the largest town of central Dalmatia. If you decide to visit Solin, you will not go wrong.

Geographical position of the town

We have already mentioned it, but it is worth repeating – Solin is a town located in central Dalmatia, north-east of Split. Over time Solin has grown together with Split, but it has remained an independent local unit and has the status of a town.

Solin is surrounded by the Kozjak and Mosor mountains, which are also counted among the tourist offer of this town. The river Jadro flows through Solin. The river is interesting to many, and with good reason.

Namely, the town of Solin had its electricity supply even before Split. The town was supplied with electricity by the "Deseti kolovoz" factory, with the help of a power plant built in 1904 at the source of this river. The power plant still exists today and can be visited, but it is no longer in operation. High maintenance costs and weak electricity production were the reasons for its shutdown. Today the power plant is a tourist attraction that many will gladly visit.

Gastronomy in Solin

Another curiosity of the river Jadro is a species of trout that lives only in it. This endemic species, the soft-finned trout, is known as the "Solinka". If you visit one of the restaurants nearby, like fish and want to try new flavours, order fresh trout from the river Jadro.

Apart from the "Solinka", the river is home to Californian trout and eels. Restaurants near the river have a phenomenal offer of fish specialities.
