Poreč is a town nearly two thousand years old. It was built around a harbour protected from the sea by the islet of Sveti Nikola.
Besides the mentioned island, the town itself also includes two smaller islands, Altijež and Regata, and six more small rocky islets of various shapes and sizes.

The Poreč region stretches 37 kilometres along the coast, from the Mirna river in the north to Funtana and Vrsar in the south.

The climate here is mild, without summer sultriness. It is very pleasant, and guests recognise it. August is the hottest month of the year, with very low air humidity, which means there are no muggy days that people normally tolerate poorly. Sea temperatures can be noticeably higher than in southern Dalmatia.

Historical Development of the Town

In the past Poreč was a town of agriculture and fishing, but as times changed, Poreč developed into a tourist town. Today most citizens live directly from this branch or depend on it. Most people rent out apartments and engage in various tourism activities. The offer in Poreč is top class in every respect. There is a large choice of apartments for rent, and the beaches in this town are equipped to the highest world standards. If we add the rich historical heritage, we get a rounded and complete picture of this town.

Historically this town is of exceptional importance for Croatia and even the world, which is best shown by the fact that the Euphrasian Basilica with its 6th-century bishopric has been placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. If you visit Poreč, even outside the summer season, you will have plenty to enjoy. Numerous monuments, walls and old buildings will delight everyone who comes to sightsee. In the summer months, besides the historical stories of the town, you can relax on beautifully arranged and equipped beaches, bathed in clean and pleasantly warm sea waves. We do not mean high waves, but light touches of the murmuring sea. Come to Poreč and relax among the beauties of which the town rightly boasts.
