Note: see all sandy beaches in Croatia with photos and location. The Croatian coast is quite varied. We mostly describe it as rocky, with quite a few pebble stretches and only here and there a sandy stretch. Although we are in a way short of sandy beaches, there is a certain number of them. They are beautiful and will enchant you at first sight.
Sandy beaches are something of a synonym for tropical oases, so our thoughts immediately turn to far-off archipelagos such as the Bahamas, but we do not need to go far to enjoy beautiful sandy beaches. There are quite a few of them in Croatia. We will describe only a small part of them in the text that follows.

Istruga Beach, Brna, Korčula Island

We are using this opportunity to take you along the Croatian coast and introduce you to just a few of the sandy beaches. We will pick out the nicer ones, by our own choice and by the reviews of guests who have visited them. If you have any suggestions, feel free to add to our post. This way you too can actively take part in creating the largest tourism portal in Croatia. This is only the beginning, since many more posts, lovely text and accompanying photos still await us. We will continue with sandy beaches – that is how we started this text too.

Sandy beaches are special, suitable for beach volleyball, children playing in the shallows, and of course a game of picigin. So let’s go through them one by one…

Sv. Jakov Beach near Dubrovnik

Just 1 kilometre from Dubrovnik lies this beautiful sandy beach Sv. Jakov Dubrovnik (photos and location). It lies below St James’s Church, after which it was named. The beach is actually a combination of sand and pebbles, reached by steps that descend from a gentle rise.

This is one of the more attractive and more visited beaches in Dubrovnik. Set in a small cove, the beach offers a beautiful view of the city itself and the nearby island of Lokrum.

The beach abounds in sporting activities; we should mention jet-skiing, various water sports and kayaking. The sea is shallow by the shore, but just a few metres out you already have depths suited to swimming and diving. Here you can explore the underwater world, and those better equipped can take phenomenal underwater photos. The beach suits younger people and families with children. Young couples will find their own romantic oasis here, while for older visitors the beach may not be the best choice after all. Frankly, because of the steps already mentioned, older people and people with reduced mobility should find a more suitable spot for themselves.

Bilotinjak Beach – Privlaka, Nin

A natural sandy beach – Bilotinjak (photos and location) – lies between Privlake and Zaton. It is set in the Zadar Channel, hidden away from inhabited places, and is a true natural oasis for everyone who loves such surroundings.

Pješćana plaža Bilotinjak

Another Dubrovnik beach – Bellevue

In Dubrovnik, in the Gorica part of town, lies the sandy Bellevue beach. It lies in a beautiful bay, in front of the hotel of the same name. The beach is reached by lift from the mentioned hotel, or on foot by a roundabout path.

This beach is set between tall cliffs, and because of their position the sun sets on it somewhat earlier. That should not discourage you, nor should it in any way be a reason not to visit it.

This beach, too, is very well visited, and various sports competitions are organised on it. The best known to mention is the amateur water-polo tournament “Divlje lige” (Wild League). This mini sporting event is held in the middle of the season, so tourists can enjoy watching the skills of local water-polo players. Besides the local water-polo players, the tournament also hosts many clubs from outside. It is interesting to mention that the tournament is sometimes followed by more than 30,000 people, which is truly an impressive number.

If you do not play water polo, that is not a problem. Various other water sports can be played here. It is enough to bring a ball and put together a team. Come and enjoy Bellevue beach.

President Beach

Since we are already in Dubrovnik, we will take the opportunity to also present President Beach. It lies beneath the hotel of the same name, is sandy and very popular. It is located in the city neighbourhood of Babin Kuk, and is graced by a very clean blue sea. Speaking of the colour blue, it is worth pointing out that this beach is a proud holder of the Blue Flag. There is no need to explain what that means – come and find out.

From the beach you have a beautiful view of the small islet of Daksa and the Elafiti Islands.

The café bar on the beach will come in handy for refreshment during the hot summer days. When you are tired of swimming and looking for shade, drop by the terrace and rest with a drink and a light chat in company.

We went a little further and found Koversada beach

The beach is located in Vrsar, on the shore of the Lim Channel. It is one of the oldest beaches in this area, and is known for its naturist way of holidaying. It is about 5 kilometres long, so the terrain configuration is varied. It has one sandy section, which is why we placed it among the sandy beaches of our coast.

The diversity of the beach is special, so all types of guests can be found here. Naturists will not bother anyone, and there is room for both old and young. Couples with children are welcome too, as are young couples in search of a romantic corner. The beach is rich in small, hidden spots and natural oases. The beach is also lined by a long promenade, with catering facilities offering a suitable range.

The nearby forest comes in handy for hiding from the strong sun, for spending a whole day lying about, or enjoying your favourite book.

Koversada is yet another beach – a proud holder of the Blue Flag. That says enough about the cleanliness of the sea and the beach, and about how well it is equipped. Our text may be superfluous here, so we will stop and move on further along our coast.

Considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic – Šunj Beach

Šunj Beach (photos and location) is located on the island of Lopud, in a beautiful natural bay far from any settlement. It is known for its shallows, which stretch up to 100 metres from the shore. Because of this it is a favourite with families with children, but also with other guests who like to play ball games or picigin.

There is no traffic on the island of Lopud, so the walk to the beach takes about 20 minutes. As an alternative you have the locals, who will take you to the beach in a small golf cart. Of course, only if you ask them nicely.

There are two restaurants on the beach. The choice of food and drink is truly rich, and the prices are reasonable. We have already given more than enough reasons to visit this small beach. Many guests from Dubrovnik visit the island precisely because of this beach. Come and relax, and spend unforgettable moments on Šunj sandy beach. If you take photos, do be sure to show us here on the portal.

Finally, lest we forget to mention it: one part of the beach is set aside for naturists. That is not a problem, since that part is sheltered, so everyone has their privacy.

Bilin Žal Sandy Beach

Bilin Žal is a sandy beach on Korčula. It is very popular and crowded, especially in the summer months. It is one of the rare natural sandy beaches in Croatia, and besides the sand, you will also be charmed by the view of the Pelješac peninsula and the other islands of the Korčula archipelago.

www.tz-lumbarda.hrThe beach is accessible to everyone. It has a gentle entry into the sea, so it is suitable both for a refreshing dip in the shallows and for children’s play.

Because of the sandy bottom, the sea might not offer a true sense of clarity or crystal colours. Still, the water is extremely clean, and it can only turn slightly cloudy because of the stirred-up sandy bottom. This will not spoil your carefree swim, nor your rest on the beach afterwards.

The beach is almost 1 kilometre long, so there will be room enough for everyone. There is a fish restaurant on the beach serving genuine Dalmatian cuisine. Nearby there is also a café with a rich choice of refreshing drinks and various snacks.

Vela Pržina

On Korčula there is yet another sandy beach. It is called Vela Pržina (photos and location), and in translation its name means “the great sandy beach”.

It is located on the southern side of the eastern cape of the island of Korčula. It is popular, and we can say with certainty that this is the most visited beach on the island. From the beach you have a beautiful view of the Lastovo Channel and of the island of Lastovo itself.

Vela Pržina is an ideal place for a whole day’s rest. Indeed, near the beach there is a restaurant with a rich offer of seafood specialities, and there is also a café for daytime refreshments.

On the beach you can rent sun loungers, parasols and various other items that will come in handy for your holiday. It is ideal for families with small children, but adults will also get along very well here. Young couples too will find their own spot. A walk along the beach will stir up romance in anyone, especially in the evening hours when the sun is setting.

Sporty, active people can enjoy beach volleyball, or on the courts located right next to the beach.

Saplunara on Mljet

On the south-eastern part of the island of Mljet, hidden away in a beautiful lagoon, lies Saplunara beach (photos and location). The bay stretches for 1 kilometre along the coast, and is divided into Mala Saplunara and Velika Saplunara. The sea is clean, calm and pleasantly warm. Sea temperatures in the summer months can rise above average, even up to 28 degrees Celsius.

The back part of the beach is enriched by a forest of pine branches, which is actually no surprise given that the island of Mljet is the most forested Croatian island. Tall pine trees will give you the shade you need during the strongest daytime sun. Still, if you are setting off on a full-day trip to this beach, bring with you everything you need, since there are no shops with food and drink nearby.

Besides food and drink, if you enjoy fun on the beach, games and similar sporting activities, be sure to bring along the equipment you need. The beach is set apart, and there are no shops near it. On the beach there is a mobile toilet and a café where you can enjoy a refreshing drink. You can rent sun loungers, and that is the extent of the luxury on this beach.

Saplunara beach is yet another of the Croatian beaches – a proud holder of the Blue Flag.

Blace Beach on Mljet

Since we are already on Mljet, let us also visit Limoni Blace. It is made of sand, is small, and with its looks it brings to mind a kind of natural oasis. It is only a 20-minute walk from the above-mentioned Saplunara beach.

Blace is a beach with a view towards the open sea, bordered on the sides by natural rocks and rich in fine sand in the middle. It is ideal for a family holiday, especially for parents with small children. Still, young couples can find romantic scenery here too, and older visitors will feel comfortable as well.

There are no shops near the beach, so it is good to bring with you everything you need. For complete, carefree enjoyment bring food and water, and for a fully comfortable rest it might be good to have your own parasol or sun lounger.

Sutmiholjska – Mljet Island

By the number of sandy beaches, and by our list, we would say that Mljet is in the lead. Sutmiholjska is a sandy cove located in the central part of the island, near the settlement of Babino Polje.

The beach is reached by a small narrow path leading from the mentioned settlement. Not far from this beach is the Mungos campsite, well known among foreign guests and rich in varied entertainment facilities.

The beach is ideal for families with small children, young couples, as well as for those a little older. If you are a guest of the mentioned campsite, a holiday on this beach will be ideal for you. Guests from other island villages come here too, but it is mostly people from the nearby campsite who enjoy the beach.

The beach is surrounded by rocks, with a couple of concrete platforms used for mooring boats and fishing dinghies. It is a sight that completes the picture of a holiday on the island. If you visit the beach, are on holiday, and take photos, be sure to share them with us here on our portal.

Punta Rata Beach – Brela

This beautiful beach was declared one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world. We need not then especially stress its beauty, but the text we write will give a hint of what kind of beach this is.

It is located in Brela, on the Makarska Riviera. The beach is pebbly, with sandy sections. The fine pebbles actually already resemble sand from a short distance. The combination of pebbles and sand is blended to perfection and gives a special feel to the beach’s guests. Behind it stand tall pine branches, decked in green needles, giving off a scent that is characteristic of this climate.

The sea is crystal clear, especially in strong sun, when the rays reach the sea floor and reflect back up. The beach is a proud holder of the Blue Flag, which will surprise no one, even the very first time they visit it.

It is equipped to the fullest, as befits a beach with this status. All sport lovers will be able to enjoy tennis, or play a game of mini football. There is also jet-skiing, and the possibility of renting pedal boats. Since this is a sandy beach, it naturally comes to us that there should also be a beach-volleyball court. Yes, you do have the chance to play volleyball.

Besides the various facilities for sporting activities, near the beach you have a restaurant, a beach bar and, of course, cafés. You can treat yourself to ice cream, and for a pleasant stay under the sun you have the option of renting a parasol and a sun lounger. We hope you will come and enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

On Pelješac we found the sandy beach of Prapratno

Prapratno Beach lies in the bay of the same name, on the Pelješac peninsula. It is surrounded by forest and olive groves, and by the beautiful blue colours of the sea in front of it. Next to the beach there is a campsite, which offers its guests a restaurant and tennis courts. Campsite guests can also play volleyball, basketball or a bit of football. The main part of the beach is actually made of fine pebbles, while the sandy part is reserved for the naturist way of holidaying.

This beautiful beach is only 6 kilometres from Ston, so it is suitable to reach by car. Right next to the beach there is a parking area where you can leave your car for a daily fee. Alongside the beach there are stands with fresh fruit and vegetables. It is a real opportunity to refresh yourself with healthy bites, and try the local produce.

The beach has a gentle entry into the sea, is shallow, and is suitable for families with small children. Of course, young couples too will feel good in the romantic setting created by the natural landscape of this place. The mentioned campsite is visited by truly different guests, and we cannot say who the beach suits best. Simply put, everyone will find a place for themselves here. If you visit Prapratno beach you will surely enjoy yourself and have a good time.

More active people, besides sport on the courts by the beach, can go on day trips into nature. Organised tours through the surrounding mountains are popular on a world level. Many tourists come even outside the swimming season, to experience some hiking. The view of the peninsula is fascinating, so take note of it if you have not already.

Rokan Beach in the village of Selce near Crikvenica

Here we are in Crikvenica, in the settlement of Selce. Rokan beach is a combination of concrete platforms with fine sand between them. It is one of the nicer beaches on this part of the coast, and is certainly interesting and well visited.

The beach is suitable for families with children, older people and young couples looking for fun during the day and in the evening hours. This small beach near Crikvenica is a proud owner of the Blue Flag. It is excellently maintained, equipped and, of course, clean and tidy.

You can reach the beach by public transport or by car. Next to the beach there are benches, an excellent spot for rest and a view of the setting sun. You can refresh yourself with fruit from the nearby stands, and also buy vegetables and prepare yourself a tasty and healthy meal. Treat your kids to ice cream or a new toy for fun in the sea. The nearby slide will delight the youngest and offer them a whole day of fun. Parents can spend their days under the sun in peace, and when the sun gets too strong, take shelter in the shade of the terrace of one of the nearby catering establishments.

On the beach there are showers, changing cabins and raised lookout posts from which a lifeguard watches over you and looks after your safety.

For a more relaxed time and complete enjoyment on the beach, rent yourself a sun lounger and a parasol. Once you have bathed and had enough sun, take a stroll to the nearby café and enjoy the beautiful view while sipping your favourite drink.

Sporty, active people will find fun on the beach-volleyball courts, or perhaps on the tennis or football pitch.

We have arrived on Pag – Planjka Beach

Planjka beach, or Trinćel, already at first glance brings to mind some far-off beach in tropical regions. Yet it is not that far away. It is located on the island of Pag, in the village of Stara Novalja, and is one of the nicer ones in this area.

It is made of fine sand, has a gentle entry into the sea and is suitable for all ages. The beach is a proud holder of the Blue Flag, which guarantees the quality and cleanliness of the beach itself. The sea is calm, clean and pleasantly warm. It is excellent for swimming, but also for fun in the shallows.

The beach is an ideal spot for children to play. Parents with small children can relax here and enjoy themselves in the best possible way. The slides by the beach will delight the youngest, entertaining and occupying them while the parents sunbathe without a care.

There is also a children’s playground, so fun is guaranteed. Safety is also at a high level, since lifeguards watch over the beach and look after the guests’ safety. Simply put, come and enjoy.

Next to the beach there is also a suitable catering offer. If you get hungry, treat yourself to something from the fast-food stand found on the beach. Of course, there is also a café with a varied range of refreshing drinks.

Besides entertainment for children, there is a varied offer of sporting content. If you are active and keen on sporting activities, play tennis, beach volleyball, or treat yourself to one of the water sports on offer at the beach.

Paradise Beach – Rab Island

Paradise Beach (photos and location) is located on the northern part of the island, in the small tourist village of Lopar. Paradise Beach is 2 kilometres long and very beautiful. It is made of sand, which is why it found its way into this story of ours.

It is the largest and best-known sandy beach in Lopar. We already mentioned that it is quite long, so it is no wonder that it comes with such a rich and varied range of facilities. This beach too can boast a prestigious award – the Blue Flag, which is proof of the cleanliness of the sea and shore, and of how well equipped and maintained the beach is. Some world portals have ranked our beach among the 100 best in the world. It is a recognition the locals are proud of, and one that motivates them to promote their tourist potential in the best possible way, season after season.

Indeed, with the support of local tourist boards, the town of Rab and the surrounding places organise various interesting events for their guests. One of the more popular events in the pre-season is certainly the BRETWAL Craft Beer Festival. If you wish to come and have a good time, we suggest you book accommodationin time.

Guests are offered varied content. You can play beach volleyball, go down a slide, and there is also the adrenaline adventure known as the towed tube, or parasailing. Pets are allowed on one part of the beach. If you have a dog, feel free to bring it along. The southern part of the beach is open to owners with pets.

This is an ideal beach for families with small children, young couples longing for romance, or people who enjoy sporting activities during their holiday.

Another sandy beach on Rab – Sahara Beach

Right on the edge of the island village of Lopar lies the large Sahara beach. It can be reached only on foot, or by sea with a small boat. There are no catering establishments on the beach; it is completely surrounded by nature, and that is what makes it special. The shallows are ideal for fun, while a little further out you can also go for a proper swim.

This beach is also the best-known naturist beach of this area. Hidden from curious eyes, naturists can fully relax and enjoy their particular way of holidaying.

Besides fine sand, this beach is also graced by low scrub, though there are also tall trees providing much-needed shade. During strong sun, be sure to take shelter in the shade, and for full enjoyment of a whole-day rest we recommend you bring sun loungers and a parasol with you. Sunscreen is a must, as is drinking water and food in case you get hungry.

The road brought us to Split and the most famous Split beach of all

Whoever has been to Split has heard of Bačvice, and whoever has been to Bačvice has certainly seen picigin being played.

This sandy beach is something of a symbol of the city of Split, and it is known for an interesting game at which the people of Split are especially skilled – that would be picigin.

The well-known anthem to the Split bathing spot calls on guests to come. “Let’s go to Bačvice” promotes, in the best possible way, and invites bathers to come to the favourite Split bathing spot. Set in the heart of the city, this beach records large crowds in the swimming season, but it is lively outside the season too. It is nothing unusual to watch picigin being played even during the winter months. The cold temperatures do not bother the brave, since good fun and physical activity keep the body warm, while the mind turns toward enjoyment. Just as the active players enjoy themselves, so too is the fun guaranteed for curious onlookers.

The Bačvice bay itself is 600 metres long, of which 180 metres is the sandy part. The rest is laid out as a concrete promenade, lined by various catering establishments along the beach. Set right in the city, this beach abounds in every facility you might need. It is clean and popular among bathers. That is no surprise to us, given that this Split beach, too, is a proud holder of the Blue Flag.

On the beach, lifeguards look after the safety of guests. You can swim and sunbathe without a care, while the youngest play in the nearby amusement park, go down the slide or jump on the trampoline. There is plenty more fun content for the kids too; we should mention the water park, and the chance to rent pedal boats.

The beach is equipped with showers, changing cabins and toilets.

For daily enjoyment of Dalmatian specialities, the staff of the restaurant on the beach will take care of you, while young people will find fun in the nearby club that works late into the night. See the accommodation on offer and book in time.

Velika Beach – Omiš

Velika Beach in Omiš lives up to its name with a length of one kilometre. It is located in the Punta area, and is graced by shallows suitable for children’s play and fun.

The beach offers plenty of content for sporty, active people. Feel free to play volleyball on the nearby court, a sandy one of course, and because of the pronounced shallows, the more skilled will enjoy a game of picigin. Besides the mentioned sports, if you are keen on adrenaline you can try your hand at windsurfing.

We should mention that Velika Beach is actually also the most popular beach on the Omiš Riviera. Located right in the centre of town, it is easily accessible and abounds in every accompanying facility. It is ideal for young couples and families with small children. The beach is graced by tamarisks and pines, which also provide the shade needed during strong sun.

It faces south, so it gets sun throughout the whole day. The beach lies right at the mouth of the river Cetina as it flows into the Adriatic Sea. That is in fact how it came to be, formed naturally by the depositing of clean, fine river sand. Because of the natural movement of this sand, we can today enjoy this beautiful pebble beach and its pronounced shallows.

The entry into the sea is gentle and very shallow. The shallows stretch as much as a hundred metres from the shore, which gives plenty of room both for children’s play and for adults. The sea here is warmer than average, precisely because of the shallows, which quickly warm up under the strong summer sun. Still, it is refreshing enough, and everyone will enjoy it.

Near the beach there is a paid car park, which will come in handy if you are arriving from somewhere further away. We should point out that our beach is suitable for people with disabilities, since it has an installed hoist for easier access to the sea.

The beach is equipped with showers and changing cabins. For complete enjoyment under the sun you can rent sun loungers and a parasol. If that is still not enough, we suggest you visit the local restaurant or café, where you can enjoy a refreshing drink of your own choice. You can treat your kids to something from the sweet shop that is also located on the beach. Come and enjoy.

Lovrečina Beach on the island of Brač

Besides being a favourite spot for many to swim in clean sea and sunbathe on a sandy base, Lovrečina beach also draws many guests because of the nearby archaeological site. Namely, Lovrečina is a large early Christian site. Next to the beach, the remains of an early Christian church are visible, so all lovers of history and culture will be glad to visit this place. It is a unique surviving example of the superstructure of a baptismal font in Dalmatia.

Enough about the site – let us continue with the touristic part of this beautiful story.

We will introduce you to Lovrečina bay, where the sandy beach of the same name is found. It is located on the northern coast of the island of Brač, between the villages of Postira and Pučišća. The beautiful bay is easily reached by car, but many guests visit it by boat. It is easy to anchor in the shallows, which is why it is a favourite spot for many sailors. It is not a rare sight to see smaller yachts in the shallow sea, which will actually come in handy for taking excellent photos of your holiday. Yachts, combined with the blue of the sea, make a wonderful backdrop for enchanting photos.

If you are keen on sporting activities, we advise you to bring the necessary equipment with you. There is no shop selling sports equipment on the beach, but there is a café with refreshing drinks and a restaurant with tasty bites. The undecided should order the dish of the day, or some Dalmatian dish recommended by the head chef. We are confident the food will taste good, especially after a whole day of swimming and sunbathing under the strong summer sun.

Grebišće Beach on Hvar

Many consider it the most beautiful beach on the island, so who are we to say otherwise? Our beach is located near the tourist town of Jelsa, next to the campsite of the same name. It is a sandy beach, which is why we mention it in this story.

Behind the beach there is a pine forest providing ideal shelter from the strong summer sun. It suits families with children, young couples looking for romance, but also older people, especially if they are guests of the campsite. The sea is shallow, pleasantly warm and calm. The sea floor is also covered in sand, so it is suitable for children playing in the shallows, or perhaps for adults’ sporting games.

On the beach you have showers and changing cabins, and if you need them, the option of renting sun loungers or a parasol. Sports enthusiasts can try their hand at volleyball or tennis, while the sea shallows will come in handy for a game of picigin.

Of the catering facilities we must mention the café on the beach and the restaurant. The choice of drinks and food is of a high standard, so there will be something to suit everyone’s taste.

Stončica Sandy Beach on Vis

The beach is located in the bay of the same name on the island of Vis. It lies on the north-eastern side of the island, only 6 kilometres from the town itself.

Stončica bay is of course known for its beautiful beach of the same name, as well as for the nearby restaurant and apartments, which tend to be fairly well booked. If you are looking for accommodation, be sure to book in time.

The accommodation capacity consists of around a dozen houses available for rent. You can rent individual apartments, or even an entire house.

We already mentioned the restaurant with home-made specialities, which is perhaps this bay’s greatest asset. Everything on the beach is kept minimalist, in keeping with nature, since the whole island of Vis ranks among the 10 best-preserved islands in the Mediterranean.

The sea is shallow even up to 30 metres from the shore. It is suitable for children and play in the shallows, as well as for people who are weaker swimmers. Because of the calm sea, sheltered by the bay, sailors often come here too and spend some of their best moments. Owners of small yachts will come here specifically to enjoy a swim, and finally be guests of the mentioned restaurant. The gastronomic offer is rich, so we invite you to visit us and see for yourself.

Zaglav Beach on the island of Vis

Since we are already on Vis, we decided to present yet another interesting and very beautiful sandy beach. Zaglav beach is located in the bay of the same name, next to the small tourist village of Milna. It is a favourite spot for sailors, and for people who do not mind a ten-minute walk, since the beach cannot be reached by car. This is an ideal spot if you are looking for peace and quiet. The clean sea will delight all beach guests, and the fine sand will make your rest under the sun pleasant and relaxing in the truest sense of the word. During the great heat you can take shelter in the pine forest found right next to the beach. You will not find any luxury here in terms of a restaurant, café or any shop. It is entirely natural, and as such has its own special guests – nature lovers.

Porat Beach on the island of Biševo

Porat beach is located in the village of the same name on the small, remote island of Biševo. It is one of the nicer beaches on this island, located on the western side and facing the open sea. It is far from any settlement, isolated, and as such is a true natural oasis. Still, next to the beach you can rent a parasol or sun loungers.

This beach is excellent for families with children, especially because of the shallows, which extend up to 20 metres from the shore. Near the beach there is a café and a restaurant. These are places you will certainly visit, especially if you have come for a full-day trip.

Behind the sandy beach there is a pine forest providing enough shade for all the guests.

Slanica Beach on the island of Murter

Slanica is the main beach on Murter, located on the southern side of the island. It is one of the most beautiful and most visited sandy beaches of the Šibenik Riviera, which should not surprise us given that it abounds in numerous facilities and entertainment. The sea here is also shallow, so it is suitable for children’s play and occasional cooling off in the shallows. Because of the shallow sea and the sand covering the bottom, this beach, too, invites a sporting duel in the popular game of picigin.

Our beach is rich in entertainment content, which is why it is visited by young couples. Older people will also feel good here, as will families with children. The numerous bars on the beach are always well attended, and there are also kiosks with food and restaurants offering truly top-notch Dalmatian specialities. Beach volleyball and tennis will come in handy for adults, while the younger ones will enjoy the amusement park. Visit this beautiful island, and come to Slanica beach.

Lojena Beach – Kornati

Although at first you might think that this beach is made up of medium-sized pebbles, it does have its sandy parts, which is why we put it on our list of sandy beaches. An additional reason for this is the fact that this beach is the only true natural sandy beach in the Kornati Islands.

It lies in a natural setting and is literally not equipped with any kind of luxury. Only true nature lovers will come here to truly enjoy themselves. It is located in a bay on the south-western coast of the island of Levrnaka.

As we already mentioned, medium-sized white pebbles grace this beach, while the sea floor is covered in fine silver-coloured sand. The reflections off the sea floor give the sea a crystal-clear colour, which tourists especially appreciate.

On the beach there is no infrastructure whatsoever, nor any catering facilities. In fact, on the whole island of Levrnaka you can find only two small restaurants, located on the opposite shore of the island, visited by sailors.

A special attraction is the nearby hill, from which there is a beautiful view of the beach and the other Kornati islands nearby. If you are in good shape, it is certainly worth climbing it and enjoying the view. The path to the hill is easy to walk, and it does not take much time to reach the top.

Nin Lagoon – Queen’s Beach

In fact, the whole area around Nin is described as a sandy oasis. The area stretches for some 10 kilometres of coast around Nin, and the longest of the beaches is Queen’s Beach. The beach lies in front of the Nin Lagoon campsite, as some also call this beach. You will not go wrong whichever way you call it, since the beach is well known by both names. It is very popular and a favourite swimming and leisure spot for many tourists.

On this beautiful sandy beach there are bars, volleyball courts and showers.

It is especially suitable for families with small children, and because of its facilities young couples will enjoy themselves here too, as will people who like to play ball games. The area in front of the nearby campsite is a shallow lagoon, suitable for walks and children’s play in the sand. The water by the shore is shallow, just right for children’s play, while adults have a few spots to enjoy deeper water. Besides that, on this beach you will easily find spots for beach volleyball, as well as various water sports.

Despite the fact that the beach is located within an inhabited place, it is hidden away from everyday crowds and offers its guests a natural atmosphere.

We already mentioned that the beach has catering establishments, so we will finish by noting that it gets sun throughout the whole day, so we advise you to protect yourself well from the sun. Be sure to bring creams with an appropriate factor, as well as a parasol and sun lounger if you have them.

The beach is very well equipped; you have showers, changing cabins and a public toilet. Guests of the nearby campsite have greater comfort, of course, and will more easily find what they need.

Telašćica Bay – Dugi Otok

In the bay of the same name lies Telašćica beach. It is located in the Zadar archipelago, in the south of Dugi Otok. It is considered the safest, most beautiful and largest natural harbour in the Adriatic. This beach is special, so we will describe it in a few sentences.

It is an ideal spot for anyone who wants to escape from everyday life, city crowds, and large beaches in general that are packed full. Even at the height of the season, here you can find your own peace and quiet to enjoy. Besides its sandy base, the beach is graced by rocks at either end, and is visited by guests arriving by sea. It is not unusual for smaller or larger yachts to anchor in the bay, since sailors love coming here. If you are not the proud owner of a yacht or a small boat, we suggest you book yourself an excursion spot and enjoy a day spent on our beach.

Sakarun Sandy Beach on Dugi Otok

Since we are already in the Zadar archipelago, we will certainly mention one more sandy beach. It is located on Dugi Otok, just like Telašćica.

This beach is on the northern part of the island, and is graced by clean sea and fine sand. The beach is about 800 metres long, and has quite a lot of shallows, which makes it ideal for family gatherings and children’s play. If you are active and enjoy sporting games on holiday, be sure to bring your own equipment, since there is no shop selling sports equipment on the beach.

There is natural shade on the beach, since there is a pine forest behind it. Fun for young people is guaranteed, since there are bars on the beach that are busiest in the evening hours.

We must certainly mention the restaurant, especially for beach guests who get hungry and know how to enjoy Dalmatian specialities.

Come visit us and have a good time.

Kostanj Sandy Beach

Not far from the village of Kukljica on the island of Ugljan lies the beautiful Kostanj sandy beach. You can easily reach the beach on foot, in only about 15 minutes’ walk. It is very accessible and suitable for all ages. Because of the sandy ground, as well as the sea floor and the shallows along the shore, this beach is ideal for children’s play as well as for a rest for people who are weaker swimmers. The beach is isolated and has no accompanying facilities. If you decide on this beach to spend the day, we recommend you bring everything you need with you. There is no restaurant or café nearby, nor any shop with equipment.

It lies in a natural setting, with a pine forest behind it. There you have enough shade to take shelter when the sun becomes too strong. Still, be sure to protect yourself with sunscreen too.

On the beach you can play picigin, or simply relax in the shallows. Of course, you need to bring along the appropriate equipment for any sport or game. A little further from the shore you can also find deep water, for those who like to swim and dive.

Kostanj beach will provide peaceful moments for everyone who loves a quiet atmosphere, without big crowds.

Beach in Crikvenica – Crni Molo

Although in some parts the beach is made up of pebbles, it is mainly sandy, which is why it is on our list. It is known for its shallows along the shore, which make it very suitable for children’s play and fun. Picigin is often played close to the shore, as well as other games suited to shallow water. On the beach you can also try your hand at the beach-volleyball court, or mini golf, and there are also various water sports such as water skiing. The nearby slide will delight all guests, which is one more reason to visit this beautiful beach.

On the beach you have showers, and for a complete experience you can rent sun loungers and a parasol. It is also open to pets, so feel free to bring your dog along too, if it likes to swim in the sea.

The tourist offer is rich; there are restaurants, beach bars and cafés. You have the option of buying ice cream for yourself or the kids, and treating them to a ride on the pedal boats.

The Sandy Island – Susak Islet

The official name of the little island is Susak, but because of its sandy shore it is often called the “Sandy Island”. The small island of Susak hides a sandy oasis in its Spiaza bay. The beach is covered in fine, soft sand. It is bathed by shallow sea, which makes it suitable for family outings, especially for children’s play and fun.

Besides being good for children, the beach will also come in handy for a game of picigin and other similar sports for adults. Beach volleyball goes without saying, as does any other similar sport you might think of. Here you can rent pedal boats, sun loungers and a parasol.

Of the catering offer, we should certainly mention restaurants with a rich choice of Dalmatian specialities, as well as cafés offering various refreshing drinks. The island itself is very popular and appealing to people who love nature, peace and quiet. There are no big crowds here, nor roads nearby, nor cars. You reach the island by regular ferry lines.
