Šibenik Taxi
Beauty is a word that can always go in the same sentence as the wonderful Šibenik. It is not a town interesting only to those who see it for the first time, but one that surprises anew even those who walk its streets every day, who were born here and live here. Many have said that the Šibenik channel is unique in the world. And indeed it is. If you look at it from the Šibenik waterfront, you immediately see what kind of natural phenomenon it is, and not only that. Your gaze runs even further and you would like to see everything. Islands and lighthouses. Ships sailing by. With your eyes you cannot satisfy all your wishes. Because there is so much. Zlarin and Prvić are the two islands closest to Šibenik, and there you will feel the breath of the Mediterranean, see old stone houses, churches. Pines and olive trees. Hard-working people getting ready to go fishing or to the fields. Žirje and Kaprije are even further away. Beautiful coves and clear sea are an escape from the city heat, but also an excellent choice for a trip in autumn or spring. Besides the regular ferry lines, on the Šibenik waterfront you will also find Šibenik taxi boat operators who will fulfil your wish and take you wherever you want. Let us not forget the lighthouse at the exit of the channel and the old Šibenik Jadrija, which has kept its original appearance and shape, identical to that of the last century, when it was built and opened as a bathing place for the people of Šibenik.

Šibenik walls – Cathedral of St James

Let us go back to the town. The dome of the Cathedral of St James will immediately catch your attention and you will look for the way to it. You can go through the old part of town and Kalelarga, or along the waterfront and then up the steps. Juraj Dalmatinac built with his own hands a wonder, known today throughout the world and deserving of the fact that the name of Šibenik has never stopped being mentioned – the Cathedral of St James.

In the same place is the town hall, and nearby are the museum and the church museum. The Šibenik churches are the legacy of the great and powerful history of the town. There are four fortresses. A wealth of the town that will be used even better when they are connected, practically into one, by a cable car and an escalator. Barone has already been refurbished as a museum and restaurant for all guests. St Michael is the most beautiful stage in Europe, and in the channel St Nicholas is an official World Cultural Heritage site. On Šubićevac there is another one, St John, which will also be restored, refurbished and opened to guests. The drivers of the Šibenik Taxi service will gladly take you to all the fortresses, which you can visit in just one day. And you can reach every one of them from the town centre very quickly.

What to visit in Šibenik

There are two national parks in the Šibenik area. Krka , whose waterfalls, lakes, and plant and animal life attract hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of guests every year. Nearby is the ancient town of Skradin. The other national park is Kornati. Islands, rocks, reefs, the most beautiful sea. And on the mainland preserved history and tradition, with minimal but sufficient touches of the modern, in terms of accommodation or an occasional restaurant.

There are some other beautiful places in the surroundings. Šibenik taxi drivers say they drive most towards Primošten and Rogoznica. Šibenik is a town of numerous summer festivals. But Tisno, a little over 20 kilometres from the centre of Šibenik, also offers wild fun for young people in summer. Šibenik taxi drivers do the vast majority of their work in that direction too.

Šibenik – geographical position and other interesting facts

Šibenik is a town of culture, tradition and sport. Names such as Dražen Petrović and Arsen Dedić. And further back in history, Antun and Faust Vrančić. It is hard to list them all. None of them, while alive, ever stopped loving his Šibenik. And today it is loved by everyone who lives here. And it is come to love by those who visit it at least once.
