The fortification of Gradina is certainly a landmark that many wish to visit. The fortress is located on a hill above Drvenik. From this position there is a beautiful view of Drvenik itself and the islands in front of the town.
On the elevated knoll of Gradina, above the old village of Drvenik, there once stood a smaller medieval fortified town. The women of Drvenik fought to save the fortress, which the Turks nevertheless captured in 1687.
Today, of the fortress, which dates from the period around 1000 BCE, part of a tower and defensive walls have been preserved. This is certainly an interesting historical monument well worth viewing. If you are spending your summer holiday in Drvenik, or come on some other occasion, be sure to visit the fortress as well.
