Church of St George – Drvenik

Near the Gradina fortress stands a small church – the Church of St George.

The old building dates back to the 14th century, and over time it has been extended. Today it is very interesting, and many come to tour the area to see both the fortress and this old church. If you are up to it, be sure to go on the tour.

As we have already mentioned, the Church of St George is located in the immediate vicinity of the fortress, in the village cemetery between Selo and Gradina. It was built in the 14th century, but due to its age and decay it was extended in 1772; during the extension, medieval stećak tombstones were also used, and the Gothic vault and apse with a barrel vault have also been preserved. It houses a valuable, unique gold chalice from the 17th century, from Rome.
