Crikvenica is a town in western Croatia, located on the Kvarner Gulf. The town consists of the settlements Crikvenica, Dramalj, Jadranovo and Selce.
In the past, Crikvenica served as the port for the smaller Vinodol settlements in the interior, the Frankopan centres of Bribir, Grižane, Drivenik, Tribalj and a few others.
Today the town is oriented towards tourism, and it is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations on the Croatian coast. The mild Mediterranean climate that prevails here, together with clean sea of pleasant temperature, have made Crikvenica an exceptional health resort.
A small Kvarner town has in a short time become a top destination during the summer tourist season. Crikvenica also benefits from the proximity of some larger cities, such as Rijeka to the north and Zadar a bit further south. The Crikvenica Riviera offers a multitude of interesting activities, so lovers of active holidays are welcome here, as well as all those seeking a relaxed and quiet holiday. The proximity of Zagreb is particularly favourable for Crikvenica, as it is a favourite destination of many Zagreb residents, especially at weekends. Kilometres of sandy and pebble beaches best describe the riviera of this town. They are connected by a natural promenade, enjoyed by a large number of both foreign and domestic tourists.
Crikvenica faces the Kvarner island of Krk, as well as some smaller islets that shyly peek above the sea surface.
This small tourist town is within easy reach of guests from Central Europe, as well as domestic visitors from Zagreb and other places in continental Croatia. It is located on the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea, known as the Croatian Littoral. Few people know, but Crikvenica is one of the oldest seaside resorts on the Mediterranean. Summer is the period when Crikvenica lives most intensely. Beautiful sandy and pebble beaches offer the pleasure of bathing in clean sea. The natural shade of Mediterranean vegetation gives a special atmosphere and protection from the strong sun. On the beaches in front of Crikvenica you can relax carefree, swim in the sea and spend days in the shade without fear of the strong sun. Of course, caution is still advisable, as well as suitable protection in the form of creams and hats, which add a special touch to the summer atmosphere.
