What to see in Ploče

Welcome to Ploče, a town of turbulent history on the coast that still has no beach with which to present itself to the world of tourism. Even today the town relies almost entirely on its port and on the transport of goods by sea. Nevertheless, there is room for tourism, and year after year the citizens are showing more and more interest in this kind of economic development. Many things work in its favour, for example the proximity of the Baćina Lakes and the mouth of the Neretva. This points to a possible progress and development of tourism in Ploče.

The city centre is surrounded by a busy port, and there is no room for swimmers there. However, the outlying areas offer a variety that can very well be put to use. The green forests along the coast are beautiful and well preserved, and the sea outside the centre is clean and pleasant for bathing. The town needs a good beach and an offer that will attract guests. It seems this will come in due time, since the town's population is increasingly interested in progress in that direction. Near the town lie the aforementioned lakes, as well as the mouth of the Neretva. The offer is even richer with these even before any works along the shore begin. At the mouth of the Neretva, guests can enjoy the natural beauty, watch bird species or try their hand at fishing. At the Baćina Lakes you can do something similar. Fishing on the lake is a special experience, especially if the day is enriched with natural beauty, the sounds of songbirds and the flights of flocks.

It is true that Ploče still cannot boast a rich offer for tourists, and few stay here. However, the citizens wish to turn their town into a tourist destination and in this way round off the whole offer of the coastal towns of Croatia. We hope that in a year or so Ploče too will have its guests, satisfied tourists who will eagerly await the next season to come back.
