Cultural and Historical Ensemble of Katun, Kožljak

Katun is a village on the slopes of Učka, near Kožljak in the municipality of Kršan in Istria County. It is set beneath a steep slope, which gives a lovely picture of a traditional Istrian village at the edge of arable land.

The village developed in several groups of house plots lined up lengthwise down the slope of the hill, along the edge of arable land. From the medieval period a one-room stone dwelling with a hearth has been indirectly retained, covered with plant material and with a functionally raised gable. Typical are stone houses, two-storey or single-storey, with a gable roof covered with plant material or channel tiles, and stone farm buildings. The period of origin ranges from the 16th to the 20th century.

The ensemble is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code RRI-0245-1970.
