Plomin is a place on a hill above a deep bay, in the municipality of Kršan, Istria County. For visitors it is interesting as an old fortified small town where medieval and Baroque buildings gather in a small space.
This area has been inhabited since prehistory, and the ancient municipium of Flanona was located in the harbor at the bottom of the bay. The fortified settlement developed in late antiquity and the Middle Ages, and its fabric is condensed. Several Renaissance and Baroque residential houses have been preserved, and the Baroque complex of the Rudan palace stands out in particular. On the southwestern edge stands the Romanesque church of St. George the Elder. The parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, by the northwestern tower, is late Gothic, remodeled in the Baroque. Parts of the medieval walls are preserved in the structure of the houses, and around the church of St. George and in the north stand walls from the 16th century.
The ensemble is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code RRI-0039-1962.
