Filipovići is a hamlet of Brela in Split-Dalmatia County, situated by the sea. It shows a visitor what a family residential and farming complex on the Makarska Riviera looked like, conceived also as a small fortress.
The houses and farm buildings are gathered around a shared courtyard paved with stone slabs. The core of the complex dates from the 18th century, was extended in the 19th century, and unsuitable interventions were carried out at the end of the 20th century. Originally the complex also had defensive features: the enclosed courtyard with two entrances, easy to defend, was protected by tall tower-like houses. In the 19th century farm buildings, kitchens and pojate were added and alterations were made. The two- and three-storey houses are built of dressed stone, more rarely of ashlar, bound with lime mortar. The gabled roofs are mostly of stone slabs, and the chimneys are typical of this region.
The ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4870.
