In the northern part of the historic core of Dubrovnik, at Pele, at the top of Ulica od Sigurate, stands the church of the Transfiguration of Christ, known as Sigurata. It stands within the complex of the Franciscan convent of the School Sisters Franciscans, and for visitors it is interesting as one of the oldest buildings in the city.
It is first mentioned in documents in 1281. The central part was built in the 9th century, in the pre-Romanesque period, on the foundations of a late antique sacred building from the 5th or 6th century, and it was extended in the 16th and 17th centuries. It belongs to the group of single-nave pre-Romanesque churches with a barrel vault, a small dome and a square apse. After the earthquake of 1667 side aisles were added to the pre-Romanesque core. The southern one is connected by a door and a small covered bridge to the convent house. It was badly damaged by shells in 1991 and was restored in 1995.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-7394. It is located in Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
