The Museum of the Croatian War of Independence was first opened to the public on 5 August 2008. It was not the date that was chosen just like that - then, Homeland Thanksgiving is celebrated. It is the symbolism that indicates the thematic setting of the Museum and its story.
More than 500 exhibits from 1991-1995 are on display in the museum premises. during the Homeland War (from the Dubrovnik defense period). The main topic of the exhibition is Dubrovnik in the Homeland War between 1991-1995. year, his defense and suffering. The exhibits have another story - the history of the Fort Imperial.
The Homeland War in the Dubrovnik area is covered through three thematic units:
The fall of the Dubrovnik Republic and the history of the Fort Imperial
The 1991 Serbian-Montenegrin aggression
Victory Days - Croatian Army Liberation Action
Days of Victory-Liberation Action by the Croatian Army and the Tribulation of the Population, Civilian Buildings and Cultural Monuments
