Tupljak Coal Mine, Labin

The Tupljak coal mine in Labin, in Istria County, is part of the mining heritage of the former Istrian Raša coal mine. For those interested in industrial history, the hoisting tower with its underground mine spaces is a rare visible witness of mining Podlabin.

The mining hoisting tower (shaft head) with its heated covered passage was built from 1935 to 1938. Of the Podlabin shaft, the tower with the heated covered passage and the underground mine rooms at the level of the Krapan gallery have been preserved, together with the basic features of the original structures of the mine and the shaft entrance. The tower is a metal structure 25 m high, with a floor plan of 15x10 m, with a large pulley wheel at the top.

The coal mine is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code RRI-439.
