Ruin of the Church of St Jadra, Splitska

On the road between Splitska and Škrip on Brač, not far from the ancient quarries, lie the remains of the church of St Andrew, known as St Jadra. A walk to the ruin can be combined with a visit to the quarries.

The single-nave building has an inscribed apse and ancillary rooms, and on the side walls are windows with mushroom-shaped arches. The place is quiet and outside the main tourist flows, so it suits those who like peaceful excursions and the interesting history of the island. It is built of roughly dressed stone in abundant mortar with incised joints. By its manner of construction and the shapes of its openings it belongs to the late antique layer of sacred architecture.

The ruin is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1554.
