Postira is a place on the island of Brač in Split-Dalmatia County, and in one of its coves the remains of a Roman farming estate and a small medieval church can be seen. The site is interesting because it combines antiquity and the early Christian period in a small space.
The remains of the Roman farm building, a so-called villa rustica, extend across the flat part of the cove down to the sea. In the retaining wall facing the sea an ancient wall is partly visible, and further west are rooms with arch-vaulted doors and windows and an inner courtyard enclosed by a wall. Beside a former field hut, the remains of the pre-Romanesque little Church of St Stephen have survived. In its wall, small columns of an early Christian altar screen were reused, which shows that the builders used material from older buildings.
The site is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5224.
