The parish church of St John the Baptist in Postira on Brač is located on a height at the edge of the Zastivanje area. Beside it the remains of an early Christian basilica were discovered, so the place is precious for the study of early Christianity.
The present church is partly built over an early Christian basilica. It is elongated, single-nave, with a square sanctuary and a fortified semicircular apse with machicolations on the south side. The main façade of ashlar ends in a gable with a statue of St John the Baptist. The church, in neo-style architecture, dates from the second half of the 19th century, when it was lengthened and given a monumental façade. To the east, in 1988, the remains of a three-aisled basilica with a semicircular apse and a bench for the priests were discovered, and beside it a baptistery with a cruciform font. Fragments of stone furnishings have the characteristics of 6th-century sculpture.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5124.
