Škrip is one of the oldest settlements in central Dalmatia, and the archaeological site in its old part, Veli Škrip, attracts visitors with its interest in prehistory and antiquity. The place belongs to the municipality of Supetar in Split-Dalmatia County.
On the hill the defensive wall of the hillfort, built of large blocks, can still be followed today. It begins at the Radojković castle and the edge of the cemetery in the west, continues across the cliff in the south, and in the east the rampart closes the flat top of the hill as far as the preserved gate called Vratca. In the north the wall appears only here and there in gardens. In the cemetery remains of ancient architecture and traces of the temple of Cybele were discovered, and beneath the Radojković tower lie the remains of a monumental ancient mausoleum or tower. In the centre of the village and in houses several late antique sarcophagi have been preserved.
The site is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code RSTI-0649.
