Mirje Archaeological Site, Postira

On the hill of Mali brig above Postira on the island of Brač lies the late antique archaeological site of Mirje. For visitors it is of interest as the remains of a complex from the 6th century that, with its stone columns and cisterns, still bears witness to its former construction.

The quadrangular complex is articulated by projections (risalits) on the western side, along which a field path runs. Cisterns have been preserved around the perimeter, and in the interior the remains of a former porch with stone columns. Numerous fragments of stone church furnishings indicate that a sacral complex existed here, and on the basis of them the complex is dated to the 6th century.

The site is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5168. It is located in the municipality of Postira, in Split-Dalmatia County, and belongs to the archaeological heritage.
