Remains of the Church in Lovrečina Bay, Postira

Lovrečina Bay is located near Postira on the island of Brač, in Split-Dalmatia County. There rise the tall remains of a late antique church, which is a pleasant reason to visit the bay besides swimming.

The church stands west of a Roman agricultural estate. It is a single-nave church with a transept and a semicircular apse. In a series of auxiliary rooms on the northern side is a baptistery with a cruciform font and a stone ciborium. In the apse, beneath the altar, a cruciform confessio has been preserved, and along the curve of the apse extends a bench for the clergy. During the investigations, remains of frescoes and stuccoes were also found.

The remains of the church are a protected cultural property and are entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5173 as archaeological heritage.
