Roman Road at Podi-Zapad, Dugopolje

The Roman road at Podi-Zapad is located in Dugopolje, in Split-Dalmatia County, northwest of the state road toward Split. It is interesting because it is part of the first carriage road that led into the interior of Dalmatia, and it is dated from the 1st to the 4th century.

In December 2011 a rescue excavation was carried out in which two sections of the road were worked, each 67 m long, with the distance between them being the same. The road is part of the Salona-Aequum route, built in the first decade of the first century under the imperial governor P. Cornelius Dolabella (14-20 AD). The construction is recorded by four inscriptions from Salona.

A protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6478.
