In Žrnovnica, in the municipality of Split, stands the parish church of St Mary with a tall bell tower. It is interesting to visitors as a church that keeps in its walls objects from different centuries, all the way to a medieval relief.
The older parish church is first mentioned in 1363. A new one was built on its site and consecrated in 1727. From the older one the apse with a pointed vault has been preserved. The new one is single-nave, and beside it stands a bell tower about 20 metres high. Everything is built of regularly hewn ashlar. Above the entrance is a Baroque lintel, and above it a rosette with a star of wrought iron. On the left side of the façade a stone impost from the 11th or 12th century is built in, with a shallow relief of a horseman piercing an animal and three-strand interlace. In the church are three altars and a wooden choir.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5345.
