The Court Palace and prison at Ulica Žrtava fašizma 7 in Rijeka, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, is a monumental building of the Art Nouveau era. It is interesting to visitors who are drawn to the urban history of the city.
The building is a consequence of the Plan of regulation and expansion of the city of Rijeka by Paolo Grassi of 1904. At that time a bypass was built around the old town, today's Ulica Žrtava fašizma, and the feudal castle was demolished. In its place in 1905/06 a new palace was erected to a design by the Hungarian architect Ferenc Czigler, commissioned by the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Hungary, which wanted to gather all judicial business in Rijeka. Built in the Secession era, it is basically historicist and its floor plan resembles the letter E. It has a high, rusticated ground floor and three upper floors. The entrance is on the north side.
The palace is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-155.
