The church of St. Romuald and All Saints is located in Rijeka, on Kozala, east of the main entrance to the cemetery, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Because of its position it is an important point in the view of the city, and it is interesting to lovers of interwar architecture.
It was built to a design by the architect Bruno Angheben and completed in 1934. The floor plan is rectangular, and on the side facade the vertical of the bell tower dominates. Both buildings were erected on an ossuary built in memory of those killed in the First World War. The church is free of excessive ornament, built of white limestone, with earth-colored rectangles of plaster that frame the pointed windows on the side facades. The reinforced concrete roof is covered with copper sheet. Numerous Rijeka craftsmen took part in making the architectural decoration.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1860.
Data: Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Culture and Media), Open Licence; coordinates: DGU (centre of the settlement).
