City Palace, Užarska 26, Rijeka

The City Palace at Užarska 26 is in the heart of Rijeka's Old Town, on the site of the former ancient decumanus, so it is presumed that its roots reach back to that period. It is interesting because it arose from the joining of several houses, and an atrium and Baroque painting are kept inside.

The complex arose in the 17th century, probably when the kala, a small inner passage between houses, was abolished. It has a staircase space and an atrium with an ambulatory and a well in the middle. On the ground floor there are groin vaults, and on the upper floors an intermediate floor structure of profiled wooden beams with Baroque painting. The facades are simple, with a regular arrangement of windows framed by stone surrounds.

A protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-340.
