Ume, which locals call Staro selo (Old Village), is part of the village of Tugare in the town of Omiš, in Split-Dalmatia County. For visitors it is interesting because the preserved network of paths, dry-stone walls and wells shows the entire village setting.
The settlement is divided into Gornje and Donje selo (Upper and Lower Village). The Upper one formed around the church of St. Roch, and the family complexes, dvori, are closed units with residential houses, single-storey hearth houses, kitchens and farm buildings close at hand. In the Lower Village the complexes line up along the main stone-paved path. The two-storey residential houses face the path with their entrance facades, and behind them are the hearth houses and other farm buildings. Ume has preserved its traditional architecture and spatial organization, including the Mediterranean vegetation that frames the complexes.
The ensemble is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4647.
