Duće is a compact village in the karst, set along a mountain ridge above arable land, in the municipality of Dugi Rat in Split-Dalmatia County. For anyone who wants to get to know the hinterland of the Omiš Riviera, a picture of a traditional village opens up here, with houses lined up along the contour lines of the terrain.
The settlement is divided into two parts: a larger one around the church of St. Anthony and a smaller one to the east, connected by a gravel path. Residential and farm complexes follow one another in rows and link people of the same surname. The single-storey houses are built of rubble stone, and the older two-storey ones of roughly worked stone in lime mortar, with gable wooden roofs covered with stone slabs. When individual families grew stronger in the 19th century, they most often built three-storey houses of better-dressed or plastered stone. Farm buildings group around them, forming enclosed complexes or closed courtyards.
The ensemble is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4458.
Data: Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia (Ministry of Culture and Media), Open Licence; coordinates: DGU (centre of the settlement).
