The church of St. Andrew stands on top of the Balan hill on the island of Čiovo, by Trogir, in Split-Dalmatia County. It is reached by an easy walk, and the reward is a quiet small church with a long history.
It is single-nave, with a semicircular apse, and its axis runs from east to west. Above the entrance door is a Romanesque stone arch shaped like a sickle. On both sides of the door there is a square window with a smooth stone sill. Researchers believe that the older half belongs to the early Romanesque period, while in the 16th century the original facade was demolished and a newer part added. In the middle of the sanctuary, in front of the apse, stands a masonry altar from the 7th century. Stone vaults only the older part of the church, while the newer has a wooden roof.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4902.
