Kostrilj Archaeological Zone, Vrbnik

Kostrilj is a prehistoric hillfort on a rise north of present-day Vrbnik, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. For a visitor interested in the Bronze Age, it reveals traces of one of the key settlements of the Vrbnik area.

The site was explored by V. Mirosavljević in the mid-20th century. Defensive ring walls were found on the northern side, along with traces of residential architecture and smaller objects. Everything suggests that it is a Bronze Age site, possibly the most important hillfort of the Vrbnik area. It is believed to belong to the period from the 12th century BC.

The zone is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2931.
