Gradina Fortress rises on the right bank of the Jadro River in Solin, in Split-Dalmatia County, about 250 m northeast of the parish church of Our Lady of the Island. It is of interest to visitors drawn by the layered past of the Solin area, from antiquity to the Middle Ages.
The medieval fortification is trapezoidal in shape, with four corner towers, built in the late Middle Ages. In the northeastern part stand the remains of a church of unknown dedication, built on the foundations of an ancient building. The church is a central space in the form of an irregular square, in which eight columns arranged in an octagon carried the central dome, and four more columns stood in the corners. All the columns are of Egyptian granite and date from the Roman period. The church was built in the 6th century and in the 11th century it was renovated and furnished with stone church furniture, fragments of which have been found.
The fortress is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5924.
