Old Church of St Jerome, Kaštel Gomilica

Northeast of the fortified core of Kaštel Gomilica, in the Town of Kaštela in Split-Dalmatia County, stands the old parish Church of St Jerome. It is interesting to visitors who want to see Baroque sacred architecture of the Kaštela coast.

The church was built in 1731 on the site of an older one. It is single-nave, of rectangular plan, with an apse of almost square base, covered by a cloister vault and a gabled roof. The west facade is dominated by the vertical of the profiled portal, the rose window above it and the lesenes of the bell gable. Above the portal is a slab with an inscription and the year of construction. In the interior remains of frescoes were found, and in the western part is a wooden choir loft. The rest of the inventory was moved to the new parish church.

The church is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3333.
