In Kaštel Gomilica, in the Town of Kaštela (Split-Dalmatia County), in the Kozice area, stands the Church of Sts Cosmas and Damian with its cemetery. It is interesting to visitors because it is a Romanesque church built on the foundations of a late antique basilica, and altogether it links the period from the 5th to the 12th century.
The construction in the 12th century was led by Benedictines from the Split Monastery of St Benedict. The church is single-nave, of trapezoidal plan, correctly oriented, with a semicircular apse in the east. It is built of irregularly dressed stone and mortar. The nave is covered by a barrel vault on arcades carried by pairs of octagonal half-columns, and the roof is gabled, while the apse is closed by a half-dome and a conical roof. In the west is a porch, and the only entrance is a Romanesque door with an arch. The bell tower is a bell gable.
A protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3577.
