Kaštel Kambelovac is one of the Kaštela settlements in the area of the Town of Kaštela, in Split-Dalmatia County. It is interesting to visitors because in a small space one can read the development of a fortified village: tower, walls, square and castles touching one another.
The core arose in the 16th century around the tower of the Cambi family of Split. The ground north and east of the tower was filled in in 1566, and the village then received a defensive wall with an entrance on the north. A village square took shape in front of the tower. In the southwest stands the castle of the Grisogono family of Trogir, and by the sea the Piškera castle, built at the end of the 15th century by residents of medieval Kruševik. In the northwest is the so-called Novo selo (New Village), while the row of houses in the north once served as a rampart. In the centre the Kumbat towers stand out, fortified houses of the Cambi family from the 15th century. In the 19th century a confraternity house and a village oven were added in the northeast.
The ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3245.
