Rural Ensemble Brnasi-Viškovo

The hamlet of Brnasi lies by the village of Široli, not far from Viškovo in Kastavština, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. The rural ensemble gives an insight into what the houses of ordinary peasants in that area looked like in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The preserved house plots have kept their original appearance: they are ground-floor buildings with an apsidal annex for the hearth, the so-called tornica. The surroundings with dolci and dry-stone walls have remained a traditionally cultivated landscape. The protected ensemble now comes down to the house plots of the Širola-Kovačić and Srok-Jandrešić families and the Jugo house, because the other house plots within the hamlet have in the meantime lost the features of local traditional building.

The ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5076.
