On the northern side of Lokvina, the main square in Kastav, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, stands the church of the Holy Trinity. It attracts visitors as a former court chapel, and on its walls it keeps frescoes and Glagolitic inscriptions.
It was built at the end of the 14th or beginning of the 15th century for the then ruling Walsee family. By type it is close to the churches in Gračišće in Istria and in Labin. The building is single-nave and properly oriented, with a rectangular sanctuary, and on the axis of the facade rises a bell gable. The walls are of carefully worked limestone blocks laid in courses. Inside, traces of painted decoration and Glagolitic graffiti can be seen. The nave, the pointed triumphal arch and the vault of the sanctuary carry frescoes that are badly damaged, and Glagolitic inscriptions are scratched into them.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-2206.
