Baučići is a hamlet on the slopes of the Omiš Dinara, and beneath it lie the remains of the ancient settlement of Oneum. The site in Omiš, in Split-Dalmatia County, is interesting because very old written sources mention it, and it has never been systematically investigated.
The southern boundary of the settlement was formed by ramparts more than two metres wide and the remains of a polygonal tower of coursed blocks, and in the north is the mountain massif of Dinara with a stronghold used by inhabitants even before the Romans. Oneum and the Illyrian tribe of the Nesti are mentioned in the oldest source for our coast, in Pseudo-Scylax of the 4th century BC, then in Pliny and on the Peutinger map. Important are the public inscriptions dedicated to the emperors Tiberius and Claudius and an altar, beside which a damaged head of the emperor Tiberius was found, pointing to an imperial sanctuary. Rescue investigations in recent years have brought remains of an estate, coins, glass and pottery. The toponyms Mlije and Rake point to early Christian buildings.
The zone is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5970.
