The church of Our Lady of Smovo is located in the western part of Gata, on a small wooded hill above the Smovo stream, in the municipality of Omiš. It belongs to Split-Dalmatia County. Built in the 17th century, it is a fine example of a modest sacred building of one of the old hamlets at the foot of Mosor, on the edge of fertile fields.
The building is single-nave, with a semicircular apse on the east side and a vaulted porch on the west façade. The main façade was built of regularly hewn blocks, and the other sides of roughly dressed stone. The interior is covered by a pointed vault, and the roof is gabled, with stone slabs. The façade ends in a decorated bell gable with one bell. Inside is a simple stone altar with a statue of Our Lady. In front of the entrance stands an old Baroque mensa from the parish church of St Cyprian, on which the Holy Spirit, St Luke and St Cyprian are depicted.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-6399.
