On the northern side of the island of Čiovo, in the town of Trogir (Split-Dalmatia County), lies the prehistoric hillfort of Kobjak. It is of interest to those who like the older layers of history, because it dates from the period from the 8th century BC to the 1st century AD.
Of the former ring-shaped dry-stone rampart, today mostly a large scree of stones remains. From the hillfort one could see the neighbouring prehistoric settlements, among them the hillforts on Sutilija and Veli Bijać, and it controlled the waters of the Kaštela Bay and the Trogir Channel. People lived here in the Bronze Age, and in the Middle Ages herders probably used it as a sheepfold. To the west of it stands a tumulus, the burial mound of one of the leaders of the tribal community that lived at Kobjak.
A protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3574.
