In the western part of Župa dubrovačka, in the Dubac area near Čibača, lies an archaeological site with the remains of the Church of St Stephen. It is interesting to those who, along the Adriatic Highway, want to see how the traffic history of this region was written in stone.
The church was built in 1336 by the Dubrovnik nobleman Stepe Silivestrović. It was single-nave, small in scale, with a semicircular apse. Beside it extended a cemetery with grave crosses, so-called učelci, and in the 18th century a stone seat, called a počivalo (resting place), was placed next to the cemetery. The building suffered on two occasions: in the middle of the 19th century when the road was widened, and in 1964 when the main road was built. Today only smaller parts of the foundations and traces of several tombs remain, visible in the road cutting.
The site is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4616.
