Zlarin is an island in the Šibenik archipelago, belonging to the City of Šibenik in Šibenik-Knin County. It offers visitors a peaceful island setting, with a settlement at the head of a spacious bay and a field in the interior, reached by a road.
Documents and finds show that people have lived here since prehistory and antiquity. Historical sources mention several settlements on the island: Zlarin, Oštrica, Kotor and Borovica. Today the main place is Zlarin, and its appearance is shaped by an interesting mixture of building types: village houses, town buildings, churches and summer residences. Among the church buildings, those in the Baroque style stand out and give the place a distinctive stamp.
The whole island ensemble is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3658. This means that both individual buildings and the layout of the settlement are preserved, so a walk around the bay and through the streets is also a tour of a historic landscape.
