Church of St Simon, Zlarin

Zlarin is an island settlement in the City of Šibenik, in Šibenik-Knin County, and by the path to the votive Church of Our Lady of Rašelje stands the small Church of St Simon. For a visitor it is interesting as an example of modest Baroque on an island.

According to archival data, its construction in the middle of the 17th century was most probably commissioned by the Šibenik nobleman Šimun Dračević, in honour of St Francis of Paola. The building is of stone, single-nave, correctly oriented and without an apse. All facades except the main one are plastered, and the gabled roof is covered with channel tiles. The main facade of large regular ashlar blocks has a portal, and above it a small rose window. It ends in a bell gable with a semicircular arch for one bell.

A protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3327.
