Zlarin Island Beaches

Zlarin is the third largest island in the Šibenik archipelago. It is well populated, and is known throughout the world as the island of coral. Written records of coral harvesting date back to the 13th century, and thanks to coral, Zlarin was the first place in Croatia to have its own tourist brochure. Even today this island keeps alive the culture of coral harvesting, as well as the tourist values that the locals are proud of. Although it is among the most populated islands of the Šibenik archipelago, this island offers a natural setting for its guests. In the winter months Zlarin has only around 300 permanent residents, but in summer these numbers are up to 10 times greater, which in itself speaks of the popularity of this island among tourists. The surface area of the island is 8,19 km², and the highest peak of the island is at 169 m above sea level. The beaches on the island are attractive, mostly pebbly, and well preserved. Besides the pebbly beaches, the island's coastline is in places adorned with rocks emerging from the sea.
