Church of the Assumption of Mary, Sutivan

The parish church of the Assumption of Mary stands in Sutivan on Brač, on the west side of the harbour, in the Donja lučica area. The bell tower is recognisable from the sea.

The first church was built around 1590, when the parish became independent of Donji Humac, and it was renovated several times. Around 1800 it was Baroquised and received a bell tower made by the Venetian altar-maker Petar Pavao Bertapelle. The bell tower has two floors of full body, and on the third a loggia with an octagonal lantern and an onion dome. The church is single-nave, of stone, with semicircular windows, in the simple forms of Dalmatian late Baroque.

The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-3408.
