Church of St Joseph and the Defilippis House Complex, Nerežišća

In Nerežišća on the island of Brač, in Split-Dalmatia County, stands the church of St Joseph beside the Defilippis house complex. Here a visitor sees in one place Baroque sacred architecture and a rich Brač residential house of the 19th century.

The church is in the southeast of the complex. The nave is Baroque, square, with groin vaults, and beside it is an elongated sanctuary. Two residential houses from the end of the 19th century are connected to each other. In the interior, beside the church, is a cistern with a stone wellhead bearing a coat of arms. The church is a unique example of 18th-century Baroque building, and the houses a typical example of affluent residential architecture of the 19th century on Brač.

The complex is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5598. It is located in the municipality of Nerežišća.
