In the Donja Banda area near Sućuraj, at the eastern end of the island of Hvar, stands the church of St Anthony. Visitors to the island find here a modest Baroque church with traces of older buildings.
It was built in 1663 on the site where two chapels had previously stood, one dedicated to the Holy Cross and the other to Our Lady of the Rosary. It is single-nave, with a pointed vault and a square apse, of smaller roughly dressed stones, and the roof is covered with stone slabs. On the main façade is the entrance with an inscription and the year of construction on the lintel, and a small rosette surrounded by an egg-shaped ornament, dated to the 15th or 16th century, so it may have belonged to the older church. In the gable is a stone three-part bell gable of Baroque form, built at the turn from the 17th to the 18th century.
The church is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4996.
