Zaglav Rock Lighthouse, Pernat

The lighthouse on the Zaglav rock stands off the western coast of the island of Cres, south of Cape Pernat, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. It is of interest to visitors as part of the history of maritime traffic in the northern Adriatic.

The lighthouse began operating in 1875. It belongs to a group of lighthouses on the eastern coast of the Adriatic that the central maritime authority built in a planned way, at the time when the railway connecting Hungary with the sea was built. The building is part of the system of maritime lights leading to the port of Rijeka, and its construction was tied to that railway route.

The lighthouse is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-1856. It is located in the municipality of Cres and belongs to secular architectural heritage.
