The Church of St John in Bol, on the island of Brač, stands on the western side of the Glavica peninsula, on the site of a late antique castrum. It is interesting because it shows several building phases across more than four centuries. It belongs to the town of Bol in Split-Dalmatia County.
The single-nave building with a square apse was altered from the 7th to the 11th century. Inside it has a barrel vault and niches, and outside a basilica-type roof of stone slabs. During the rebuilding in the 11th century, pilasters connected by arches were added, carrying a new vault. Behind the pilasters, frescoes with plant motifs and panels imitating marble were found. In front of the church a large room was uncovered with frescoes of marble cladding, into which a cistern with a barrel vault had been built.
The church is a protected cultural property, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-4773.
