Windmill, Bol

On the eastern side of Bol on the island of Brač, close to the seashore, stands an old windmill. It stands as a rare monument of industrial architecture on the island.

The structure is circular, built of irregular rubble stone. Opposite the entrance, cantilevered stone steps rise to the second floor, which instead of its original roof ends in a terrace. On the wall, traces can be made out of the place where the mechanism and the axles of the mill wheel stood. The mill dates from the early 19th century and is one of the examples of how wind power was used on the island. Because of the proximity of the sea and the open space it is easy to find on a walk along the coast.

The mill is a protected cultural good, entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia under the code Z-5349.
